USBS6 - a Spartan6 board

This well-priced Spartan-6LX FPGA-board is the successor of the popular USB3FPGA. It is available as fully-populated development board with 0,1" headers on each signals. It is also available partly populated as OEM-board. On request it can get populated with LX25 or LX45 FPGA. The voltage of the user IO signals is selectable. As default, it comes with 3,3 Volt. Many FPGA IO signals are routed as impedanze-controlled differentiall pair and can be used for LVDS. The board comes with a lizense of the UDK (Universal Development Kit) and contains everything needed for a quick implementation of your own applications. Amongst other things, it comes with USB-drivers for Windows™ and Linux™, sourcecode of an example application, VHDL sample code and a Test- and Analysistool for funczuion test and to measure the actual data rate.

	The USBS6 board can get its power through the USB 2.0 Host-interface. The fast USB connection enables long-term data-rates in excess of 30 MBytes per second. For this, an on-board Cypress FX-2 USB Controller in "slave-FIFO" mode is used. You can use this method in your own designs. The example code is part of the UDK that comes with the board. In addition, the USBS6 has a a secondary USB Interface which allows data-rates of up to 3Mbs and is recognized as RS232 interface on the host computer. This channel is well suited to output debug information or as a very easy-to-use alternate to the main USB interface. Because the FPGA configuration bitstream can come from an on-board SPI Flash memory, the USBS6 board can be used without host connection. Soft-Prozessor applications and preset-tables are supported by an additional separate Flash Memory. To enable soft-prozessor applications or to buffer larger amounts of data, 128 MByte low-power DDR SDRAM memory is available on board. Some LEDS and a 16-way rotary switch are located in a way that alows to add a front panel or to use the board with an standard EURO-format housing (width: 100 mm).
